Shipping
Pay for extra postage, click here (or go to bottom of page). We ship by USPS standard ground parcel post and absorb some of the shipping costs our self. Not all of the shipping costs such as the box or envelope, padding or packing material, and time and labor associated with shipping are covered in what we charge for shipping. Since what we sell currently is generally low cost, we do not insure shipments nor pay extra for tracking. See below if you want a tracking number. Contact us if you also want your order insured. You will receive a PayPal notification when your order has shipped. That does not necessarily mean it was shipped that day, it might have been shipped the day before. Sometimes it is the next day before we get all the orders cleared from the queue.
Using a forwarding service? Please contact us for the extra charge for a tracking number. We are not responsible for orders shipped through a forwarding service and will not replace those orders if they do not arrive (often they are just very late). You will need a tracking number for proof to your forwarding service that it arrived to them and they are responsible if you do not receive it. In our experience, forwarding services are not very reliable. It is better to have your order shipped direct. Shipping Options & Tracking Information -- Domestic (50 U.S. states) Prices typically increase each year in January. Contact us with the exact items you will order for the shipping cost for priority or express mail or for UPS or FedEx. Jacobs Online is not responsible for orders after they are shipped and has no control over the Post Office or other carriers. Orders are not shipped with a tracking number unless specifically requested and additional postage is paid. Shipping options are listed below. First Class Mail: For small orders (not including spools or non wire orders) We ship by first class mail and pay for the postage. There is no tracking number for first class letters but is used for first class packages, Priority, and express mail. Delivery time varies depending on location and distance from Washington state. Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope or small box: -- Estimated delivery 2 to 3 days depending on your zip code. You get a tracking number. Small orders can go this way. Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box: -- Estimated delivery 2 to 3 days depending on your zip code. You get a tracking number. Transformers and larger number of small spools usually go this way. Multiple transformers or extra large small spool orders may require multiple boxes.
Express Mail -- Usually no advantage and only for small orders.
UPS and FedEx are almost always more expensive. In addition to the shipping charge, there is a $20 minimum order requirement for shipping by UPS or FedEx, and orders shipped by UPS or FedEx will go out THE DAY AFTER the order is received due to their distance from Jacobs Online and the logistics of getting orders to them. An extra $19 is charged for pickup which is in addtion to the regular shipping charge. (I cannot deliver packages to FedEx or UPS due to the extra time out of the day). That is in addition to published charged for shipping. If you call by 9:00 AM Pacific Time week days, your UPS order MAY be able to go out the same day.
Insurance: A tracking number is not insurance. It is only special handling in route to get your order faster and so you can track its progress through the delivery system. You may contact us and request insurance if you want it. Shipping Options & Tracking Information -- International PayPal charges extra for international orders so all amounts we quote to you for shipping will also include that extra amount. Jacobs Online is not responsible for orders after they are shipped and has no control over the Post Office or other carriers. We also have no control over what other country's customs department may charge nor any information about customs charges. The buyer is responsible for all customs charges. Some countries charge nothing, others can charge ridiculous amounts. It is recommended that you check on that before you order so there are no surprises. Orders are not shipped with a tracking number unless specifically requested and additional postage is paid. Packages will need to be picked up at your local post office or UPS or FedEx office so you can pay the customs duty. Packages returned to us because you didn't pick up your package will have to pay the shipping again. Returns can take months to get back. If it is too long, there will not be an option on your order for a refund and in that case, you will not be notified and your package will not be refunded. It is your responsibility to check with us if your package is significantly delayed. Prices typically increase each year in January and July. You MUST Contact us with the exact items you will order for the shipping cost for ANY international order and for instructions on how to add it to your order. It must be added as a line item--there are no shipping options at checkout. First Class Letters for the small coils or cards can no longer be shipped internationally. The postal service requires all international mail including objects be sent as packages.

Due to the distance from Jacobs Online to UPS & Fed Ex and the logistics of getting orders to them, orders are picked up by them at Jacobs Online which costs $30 extra in addition to the published cost. An extra $10.00 is also charged for the additional time and effort in filling out their customs forms which are more complicated than the post office forms. These extra charges will be added to the FedEx or UPS shipping charged. We can also ship using your account number but the above conditions still apply (the extra pickup charge will be included in your bill from FedEx or UPS). Your account must be a USA account.

You may contact us and request insurance if you want it. DHL is not available. We cannot ship using DHL because there is no DHL office within 150 miles of our location. LATE ARRIVING ORDER? If you think your order is late or lost, you can ask via email and we can tell you when the order was shipped, how the order was shipped, the address shipped to, and what the carrier's estimated transit time is if they supply that. As stated above, we have no control over the Post Office or other carriers nor how long they take to deliver. For letters, there is no tracking so we can't tell you anything. Some countries to not have tracking. Otherwise, you will receive an email from PayPal with your tracking number and you can track your order online yourself. We ship everything through the post office unless special arrangements are made and extra shipping charges are paid. We are not responsible for late deliveries or lost orders unless you have contacted us prior to shipping your order and you pay for extra insurance. There are so many different prices for different order sizes, weights, domestic and international destinations that it is not possible to list them all so PLEASE CLICK ON MULTIPLE "ADD to Cart" buttons to add up to the required amount we tell you after you contact us before you check out. Do not checkout with each amount separately. Click on the combination of amounts one by one to add them to the cart before checking out. Please add extra postage on the same order as your merchandise order. If you prefer, we can send you a PayPal invoice for your order with the required shipping or for just the shipping if you already placed your order.
